Our range of popular BL21 competent cells are for protein expression from vectors containing E. coli promotors and are available for either T7 promotor or non-T7 promotor expression.
BL21 competent cells, derivatives of E. coli Strain B, are suitable for high-level expression of a variety of recombinant proteins and are ideal hosts for the expression of proteins from vectors which utilize E. coli promotors. BL21 grows in minimal media and is deficient in key proteases.
